Green Lantern Reading Order (Post Crisis)

The Complete Post Crisis Green Lantern Reading Order

From Emerald Dawn to the New 52

Below (all this text!) you will find a list of comics relating to our Post-Crisis Green Lantern in chronological order.  We strive for it be as complete as possible, containing major guest appearances as well as the core titles and mini-series. The order is based chronologically, though “flashbacks” tend to be listed in the “present” and not the recalled “past”, and we try to keep arcs together as much as possible.  We focus on individual issues (floppies!), and don’t break the issue into smaller parts, if two issues intertwine.  Instead, we’ll choose one to appear over the other.

We don’t believe this list is perfect, but we have yet to find any list that offers anything quite like this, in format, breadth, ease of use.

Furthermore, considering there have been many Green Lanterns over the years, we’ve included 4 of today’s active Green Lanterns as the focus of this list.  So, within this list, you’ll find a:

  • Hal Jordan Reading Order
  • John Stewart Reading Order
  • Guy Gardner Reading Order
  • Kyle Rayner Reading Order

Green Lantern Reading Order Quick Start

Though some of you may be looking to read from the start of today’s continuity (since hardly anything has changed for Green Lantern from the transition from Post-Crisis to New 52), you may want a quick start with the most important Green Lantern trade paperbacks.  Generally, most decide to start at Geoff John’s stellar run, beginning with either Rebirth or Secret Origins.

Green Lantern Reading Order Filters

Our reading orders are instantly filterable.  While not all metadata is available, we try to put in the most important keywords, in order for the list to load quickly on one page.  You can filter by any keyword that appears in the list.  The most important filters are the Lantern-specific ones, such as searching for “Hal Jordan” will give you just the reading order for that particular Green Lantern.

Forgive us, as this is the most intensive part of our reading orders.  We strive to complete this, as we believe it adds immense value to our reading orders

Green Lantern Reading Order Status
Current Status: Preliminary (This is the order we’ve put together BEFORE reading through. It has been compiled from many lists and tweaked to create something unique. Omissions, especially regarding metadata can be numerous, but this order should be reliable enough for most).

Upcoming Changes:

  • Addition of creative teams
  • New 52 issue integration

  1. This list rocks! Thank you for the work. My question is, I saw no Green Lantern Corps issues listed here before Green Lantern Corps Recharge. Are none of the GLC books in continuity between Crisis and Recharge?

  2. Awesome list!! Thank you very much! Question: there are some “Green Lantern Corps Quarterly” issues missing (3-6,8), is this intentional?

    1. Not necessarily. Each of our reading orders have a certain “draft” level: we begin by aggregating all the lists out there, then try to fill in the blanks and then spot check according to missing issues or contentious continuity areas like crossovers. For Green Lantern, we have only aggregated the list and have done a bit of spot checking. For those Quarterlies in particular, we probably just haven’t found a place for them yet.

  3. Thank you so much for posting this list, I can’t stand when lists jump back and forth between series for no reason. I’d much rather finish a story before going to the next instead of reading 3 stories at once like most reading orders. Again thank you because I was about ready to make my own and now I can just jump into reading 🙂

  4. I have a DCfirst from July of ’02 that is billed as the first team up of Scott and Jordan….not seeing it on your list

    1. It’s quite far down my list, unfortunately. However, it may climb up as I expect to do a read through of Johns entire run next year.

  5. This is great, thank you! 🙂 As a comic book fan I`m starting now to read all of Green Lantern (post crisis) and this is just what I needed! Thank you for your efforts!!
