!!! This reading order will no longer be updated, in favor of a combined New 52 reading order !!!
Below you will find a first draft of a chronological reading order for the Superman family of books in the New 52 Universe. Please help improve and add to this list by commenting below or contacting us through our contact form or by asking us on Tumblr. Considering the time-jumping nature of the stories (almost every title begins at a different point in Superman’s career) it will be hard to put together a list that satisfies everyone. We approach this reading as we do any other; place issues the order that benefits the reading experience, which means some flashback issues are better positioned alongside other issues with a similar publication date, while others fit better chronologically.
The issue listing is further down the page; the table just below is the current list of available collected editions.
Action Comics | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Superman | |||||
Justice League | |||||
Team Ups | |||||
Supergirl | |||||
Superboy | |||||
Since the forever evil event is putting out the final issue next week, will you be updating the new 52 superman reading order?
It’s lower on my priority list. Maybe once this year, but not in the near future. I’m just not reading those titles at the moment (I wait until my library gets them in, which can take a while).
Okay, so I have worked a little bit on update. These are my updates, but you can check if I’m right about them:
Action Comics 23.2
Action Comics 23.1
Action Comics #25 ZERO YEAR
===Here your list starts===
Action Comics 23.4 between Action Comics #18 and #19. And after Action Comics 23.4 I have placed Batman/Superman 4-7.
Justice League #0 comes between JL #11 and #12
Superman Unchained have no actual place in timeline I think, but I choose to place it between Action Comics #23 and Justice League #18. I don’t even know why.
After your list comes Forever Evil. Reading order of that is available in many places of web. After Forever Evil reading order of Superman Family goes like that:
Action Comics #26
Action Comics #27
Action Comics #28
Action Comics #29
Superman #26
Superman #27
Batman/Superman #3.1 DOOMED
Superman / Wonder Woman #1 DOOMED
Superman / Wonder Woman #2 DOOMED
Superman / Wonder Woman #3 DOOMED
Superman / Wonder Woman #4 DOOMED
Superman / Wonder Woman #5 DOOMED
Superman / Wonder Woman #6 DOOMED
Action Comics #30 DOOMED
Superman / Wonder Woman #7 DOOMED
Superman #28 DOOMED
Superman #29 DOOMED
Superman #30 DOOMED
Superman: Doomed #1 DOOMED
Action Comics #31 DOOMED
Superman / Wonder Woman #8 DOOMED
Batman/Superman #11 DOOMED
Superman #31 DOOMED
Action Comics #32 DOOMED
Superman / Wonder Woman #9 DOOMED
Action Comics #33 DOOMED
Superman/Wonder Woman #10 DOOMED
Superman #32
Maybe I’m wrong somewhere, so If someone see some mistakes, just tell me. I didn’t place anywhere those comics:
JL #30, 31, 23.2, 23.3
Superboy 0, 26 – 32
Supergirl 0, 26 – 32
Superman 23.2, 23.3, 23.4, Annual #2
Batman/Superman 8-10, 12 , Annual #1
If you know when they took places, you can add them yourself.
Sorry, I have found one mistake in my update: Action Comics 23.1 comes after Supergirl 23.
Thanks for this. I’ll be updating, and I have a few leads of some of those missing issues, but I’m still looking for a place for Supergirl and Superboy after Krypton Returns.
Also, I’m considering keeping Action Comics #25 closer to Action Comics #26 – while it’s a flashback, the elements of the story and the back up read better alongside the rest of the Kuder/Pak run.
I recommend either discontinuing the Supergirl list or applying it to the Red Daughter of Krypton storyline. I myself have gone ahead and compile a fairly solid list for the Red Daughter of Krypton Reading Order… Note this order can be placed WITHIN the Green Lantern Reading Order but for this website I’ve removed that section. I’ve only kept in the issues that directly impact the storyline thus far. Here’s my list:
Red Lanterns #27
Supergirl #28
Supergirl #29
Green Lantern #28
Red Lanterns #28
Red Lanterns #29
Supergirl #30
Red Lanterns #30
Supergirl #31
Red Lanterns #31
Red Lanterns #32
Supergirl #32
Supergirl #33
This provides the best flow I feel. The superboy one is still a toss up, I’m hoping as things progress we can get a more firm placement of it in the overall order of events, right now I just have the new issues after Krypton Returns as stand-alone.
All of my questions sedhelt-ttanks!
Whoa, whoa, get out the way with that good inotfmarion.
Wait, why is Action Comics 23.2, 25, and 0, the beginning of the list? Wouldn’t I start with Action Comics #1, Superman #1?? I’m not fully understanding it. Thanks much.
Because they take place in the past.
Any chance on an update to this?
This is pretty cool list! Thanks for making it.
I started reading new 52 comics and it’s pretty nice list to check up what I mean reading what it is in the timeline.
